The two main cities are Thimphu, the capital city and Paro, the city with only international airport in the country. The other important city is Phuentsholing which is an Indo-Bhutan border town and is one of the entry point to Bhutan by surface from India.

  • Bhutan Welcomes You (Arrival in Paro | Paro to Thimphu)

    Meet & Greet on arrival at Paro Airport and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. Evening explore the Thimpu town by walk. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

  • Thimphu

    After breakfast visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue)& Folk Heritage Museum.

    After lunch, visit King’s Memorial Chorten (Monument ), murmuring mantras and spinning their prayer wheels.

    Then, visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops, Here you can buy hand-woven textiles.

    Evening visit Trashichhoedzong,Later , Return to hotel for overnight stay at Thimphu.

  • Thimphu/ Punakha ( 75 Km, 3 hours drive)

    After breakfast, proceed to Dochu-la pass stop here to take in the view the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags . If skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from this Masagang, Tsendagang ,Terigang and finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan .

    Later visit to Punakha Dzong, Built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers . Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has been restored by the present King.

    After that go head to Wangduephodrang visiting Dzong and local market.

    Return to hotel for overnight stay at Punakha.

  • Punakha / Paro (125 km, approx 4 hours drive)

    After breakfast drive to Paro en route visit Simtokha Dzong. It is now Institute for Language and Culture Studies.

    Afternoon in Paro, visit Ta Dzong, once a watchtower . The approach to the Dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called Nemi Zam.

    Overnight stay at Paro.

  • Paro

    After breakfast , proceed to valley to view the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong.

    Later , visit to Taktsang Monastery, Bhutanese monasteries.

    While return to Paro town visit en route Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Buddist temples in Bhutan.

    Overnight stay at Paro.

  • Departure from Paro

    After breakfast check out from hotel and drop at Paro Airport for your onward journey.

  • For all the travelers it is necessary to carry original Voter ID or Passport to travel to Bhutan.
  • In case of child it is required to carry Birth Certificate along with School ID card.
  • A permit is required for travel to Punakha. We will get the permit for our customers.
  • To get the permit we need to submit 2 copies of passport size photograph, clear scanned copies of the voter ID card and Passport for adults and for Kids the copy of Birth Certificate. It is mandatory to carry the same.

Entry Permit

  • Indian Nationals travelling between Bhutan & India do not need Visa. An identity document, be it either passport or an election commission I. D card is, however required for presentation at the immigration during entry, to obtain an entry permit along with 04 passport size photographs. Indian Nationals travelling between Bhutan and Nepal require valid passport as per Nepalese immigration regulation.

Route Permit

  • It is required for those travelling to restricted areas beyond Dochula pass. The Route Permit is processed & issued in Thimphu, only after arrival in Bhutan and on production of the Entry Permit. Two copies of passport size photos required while processing Route Permit. Also this permit can be processed only during working days (Mon-Fri) and applications are accepted from 10-12 a.m. and permit granted on same day from 4-6 p.m in summer and 4-5 p.m. in winter.
